Eredivisie Ranking review/preview

The top five at the start of this season are in the exact same position they were twelve months ago, although all three lost ranking points compared to where they stood after 2009/10 – perhaps showing that the gap between the toppers and the rest is gradually closing. Good seasons for Groningen, Heracles and ADO all see them occupying the next best positions, while Utrecht’s ranking points and position suffered – probably due to the distraction of a successful campaign in Europe.
At the bottom this year RKC, Excelsior and De Graafschap all look like a season of struggle awaits, VVV’s transfer activity might see them safe, but NAC have the potential to get dragged towards the bottom if they can’t improve on last seasons poor finish. And who knows which Vitesse side we will see this season, a new manager, promises of new players – but they failed to impress last year – almost having a last day disaster against Excelsior - and another season of rebuilding could leave them vulnerable to sides below them again.
